    Unhappy Swine Influenza

The recent outbreaks of Human Infection of Swine Influenza A (H1N1) in the United States of America and Mexico has caused more than 100 people lost their live.

I am so regret to hear about this. Hope that the authority could control the situation. People in United State and Mexico take care yourself.

It's very frightening and not to be underestimated either. I saw I am legend. If I remember right that virus was airborne. While I don't think this will wipe out the planet, it definitely has the potential to do very serious damage. As far as they can tell so far this is passed person to person and if you think, "well I don't hang out much with others", look at it this way.

Every person that goes on public transport touches doorhandles or hand rails or similar. Who knows whether or not it can be transferred via such surfaces? Think how often you stand within six feet of someone (which is the distance I read yesterday that one official was recommending to keep between yourself and others). At the supermarket, in the mall, at work, at college, your own home...any one of them is potentially infected and may be able to pass it to you. The best thing you can do is frequent handwashing and contact your dr if you have flu symptoms.

They reckon coughing and sneezing and being in close proximity to people has a lot to do with its spread. This suggests it's in the body fluids that get sent flying when you cough without covering your mouth or sneeze and not use a tissue. I'm watching the news closely on this and expect we'll see a major escalation in numbers soon because no one was looking for it before, but now they are conducting tests all over the world.

There are many, many different strains of influenza to give it its proper name or 'flu. Some are far more serious than others and it mutates into new strains often, which is why new flu jabs are handed out to the most vulnerable groups every year. Old vaccines don't always work for new strains of the flu.

This online exhibition shows the devastation caused by the last big flu pandemic in 1918, which this has been compared to many times in the press. It killed 77 million people worldwide. The exhibition has both pictures and documents from then. If that doesn't make people think this flu is frightening, I don't know what will.

77 million? i thought this swine flu is the worst.
but i think that was back when of course 1918. during that time there's still slow progress of creating drugs intended for such viruses.

Default Google puts flu tracker to work on swine flu

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Using a new tracking tool, search engine giant Google said on Wednesday it saw a spike in searches for information about flu among people in Mexico last week even before news of the outbreak became widely known.
Google said it has put together a flu trends tracking system for Mexico based on the U.S. Google Flu tool launched last fall that is used by U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention to figure out where influenza is heating up.
It is based on Google's observation that people who are sick with flu tend to search for the same types of information on the Internet, and these searches can be used to predict where an outbreak may be occurring.
"We have seen evidence in Mexico that Google users also search flu-related topics when they are experiencing flu-related symptoms," Jeremy Ginsberg, lead engineer for Flu Trends at Google, said in a telephone briefing.
Studies show that between 35 and 40 percent of all visits to the Internet are started by people looking for health information.
Ginsberg said the Mexican data have not been cross-checked with years of data on actual flu cases in Mexico like the U.S. flu tracker has, so the data may not be reliable.
But he said the company is optimistic that the system, which generates maps based on peaks in flu-related searches, "may reflect actual flu activity."
"We did see a small increase in many parts of Mexico before major news coverage began last week," he said.

In this recent time, it's worst. Until now still tracing where part of Mexico started of Swine Flu Outbreak. In Europe (first country incident of spreading of Swine Flu is Spain)the suspect of carrying H1N1 Virus is a Mexican, same in HongKong and Korea. Our country(Philippines) they had quaratine those suspected people of Swine Flu are came from of the country had Swine Flu Outbreak. Actually they had a medicine for this Swine Flu but is not enough for those million people victim of this strain. We know it doesn't matter the expensive price to curing this type of virus strain because the important is to save the life from those strain.

By the way I heard news last night according to scientist they will have a new strain virus once the victim had infected by a Swine Flu and the very worst is it doesn't have a medicine or vaccine to prevent that a new strain virus.
