Iran stands in the eighteenth position in its area. This large country measures for about 1,648,000 km2 in area. An approximate calculation says that, Iran equals most of the western countries like Spain, France, Germany and United Kingdom in size. It has its waters from the Gulf of Oman and Persian Gulf. Iran is called the world’s known mountainous countries. It landscape is dominated with rugged mountains which separate the plateau and the basins from one another.
The country of Iran is divided into 31 provinces, each of them governed by an appointed governor. Mashhad is the second largest city in Iran with the population of 2,410,800. It is also the holiest city of the place. Iran has a great political background with lots of war.
