Default What's an ideal blog post length?

Some say under 300 words, some say about 500, some say 1000 and others say it doesn't matter. What do you prefer to read lengthwise, and also write in your own blogs? I like something around the 700 mark that I can get my teeth into.

less than 300.. actually i just close those posts at blog and forums which are lengthy

Just writing some thing in one line is much better than explaining in 300 words

Between 300 and 500 words. Provides enough content for ranking and not so much content that your reader gets bored

That depends upon the content you are writing. In my views it should be to the point and in simple words. No visitors is going to read your content word by word.

Good point. And I guess as well I'm a bit different in that I'm a writer myself, so I enjoy the written word more than most probably. I spend all my time mentally filing away unusual words for my creative writing and like blogs that meander a little with personal perspectives. For anything more technical or logic based, simple and to the point is better, yes.

I would have to say less than 300 with images, from there add a link to a page containing more info for the end users interested. (plus it gets you more page views). Personally I don't run blogs but I do run several stores and I noticed when selling my scripts etc. it makes for a better sale if I include little text with images and videos.

    Thanks!

The debate on this can go on and on. A blog post must be intersting and relevant, in other words good content. Does it matter if its in 100 words, or 900 words so long as the content is good.

I think most importantly is what you write, and whether your contents can attract people read it. I find myself lose interest or patience to read long blog post, unless the post is really interesting. Straightforward, steak to the points and interesting post is utmost important to gain traffic.
