Problem with IP
Hellow,
I have a rather difficult question:
I have a reseller account at ahplace.com and the IP of Ahplace is 209.85.42.130. But sometimes I can't access ahplace and my sites, so I think this is due to that IP
So my question is, can I use freedns.afraid.org or something to use my own nameservers so my site will be accessible without problems?
Hope you understand my problem?
Cheers!

if its their servers going down then no using your own dns server wont make a difference. using your own dns server would only help if theirs wasnt setup right and it was just the nameservers going down someone said ahplace is the same as e10hsting, if thats the case you'll hjust have to get used to the occasioanl downtime

Well, it's not really downtime, because other people do can access ahplace or my site hosted there, but sometimes I can't. So it has nothing to do with downtime, but with the connection I think.
So when I use freedns.afraid.org, can I solve that problem?

you can try but i really cant see it changing anything. if other people can access and you cant it may be your isp. try using a proxy to access the site or use google translation tool but click translate to english, that way nothing changes and your using google to look at the site

Owkay, I will try!
So am I right that I have to do only these things:
1. Register account at freedns.afraid.org and add my domain there.
2. Change the nameservers where I registered my domain.
3. Park my domain in my Cpanel
Although I have a reseller account, I have a WHM and there I can change some DNS settings too. Or is this sufficient?
Thanks in advance, because I'm really a noob in such things.
Cheers!

id recommend everydns.net to be honest. much easir to use too
you can simply add a * into the subdomain box so everything will point to that one ip
you just ned to add your domain there and point the names to your servers ip, then change the nameservers no your domain name to the everydns ones (or afriag.org if u use them)
u shouldnt need to do anythig in cpanel or whm. it should jsut all work

No, salweno, I really don't think changing your site's nameservers to that of ahplace would work. Try this out in Command Prompt if you're using Windows. (Type everything excluding the quotes)
"nslookup www.ahplace.com"
That will show you the IP address of ahplace.
Now try -
"nslookup ns1.ahplace.com"
That will show the same IP address; and hence, changing your nameserver would change redirect/change your site to ns1.ahplace.com, which, apparently won't work.
I had this problem too, but with other sites (antivirus sites). When I enquired my ISP about this, they enlightened me that there was something wrong with the "hosts" file.
Well, try this out; enter the IP address of ahplace.com in the browser's address bar, it might work ! This worked for me when I was unable to open antivirus sites...

Well, the IP of ahplace.com is 209.85.42.130 and this of ns1.ahplace.com is 209.85.42.187.
So they are not the same?
But when I try to enter the first IP, I get this error: "There is no website configured at this address."
With the second one I get this:
"This IP is being shared among many domains.
To view the domain you are looking for, simply enter the domain name in the location bar of your web browser."
Cheers!
