IMO, setting up a host takes time and a lot of effort...you must be really willing to spend a lot of time in order to do this. First, you must install and configure your computer to work as a server, then, you must make sure everything's balanced, the load on the server. Additionally, because of all of the hackers out there, you must make security your top priority...because if someone get's hold of your computer, you're in big trouble...Also, make daily backups...
But anyways, I would probably use a Linux computer, in which most web hosts use to host php...etc, and apache...If you're considering on hosting asp, use a windows computer...I've tried out cpanel before, and it's awesome, so i would reccommend that too. Hope that helps

You should also have a huge bandwidth because tons of people are going to be uploading their stuff and people who are viewing the site will be downloading the content so you will need like a 30 mb upspeed.
