Thread: Reputable Providers

    Post Reputable Providers

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a domain.

I have been to godaddy.com and they offer the .com with a .net, .biz and .info of the same name for a nice price, they also offer the option to have undisclosed "whois" information free if I buy all 4 domains.

I have heard some bad reports on godaddys customer service and this is reflected in their cheap prices.

All I want is the 4 domains, with private "whois" information. I require a basic hosting package (say 5GB min transfer per month) that all 4 domains can share. I will only be concentrating on the .com address but it would be nice to have the others display the same page and just so somebody else can't register the same name in a .net etc.

Godaddy.com offer all these options on their "product page" you simply click what you want and then pay.

Is there any other more reputable providers out there who will provide this simple set up? If I have to pay a bit more I don't mind.

    Cheers

    Hello neptunesmoon,
First of all welcome to hostbidder,
Try www.enom.com , orelse www.register.com Both seem good to me!

    Thank you for the reply.

Another essential requirement is that there will be no pop ups on the site.

I'm surprised register.com hasn't been mentioned to me before as you would think it's the most popular domain name for a registering company. Is there a reason for this maybe? Bad service? Better service and prices elsewhere?

    Cheers

Has anyone had any bad experiences with Godaddy? Or good.. I know with such a big company people are likely to have bad experiences. I'm not sure who I should go with.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the suggestions.

I could not amass that amount of points without spamming the forums to bits so that's not an option. I would also like to purchase the domains by tonight.

I had a look at enom and their prices seem very high .coms are $29 per year, that's quite a lot.

Really all I'm looking for is:
    .com/.net/.biz/.org/.info

with a 5GB mininum monthly transfer hosting package shared between all 5.

I want all 5 domains to have private whois information done by "Domain Proxy" or similar as on godaddy.com

Price isn't really an issue but I'm not prepared to be ripped off if there is a service of just as good quality available.

I will not be using this site for spamming and I have no problem giving private information to the registrar. I just don't want this information to be available to the public.

Godaddy have everything I want and their set up process seems simple. It's just I've heard their customer service isn't up to scratch.

However, in saying that, I was told that as long as the site has no abusive content (which it wont), and I don't need my hand held setting up (I wont) that it should be ok. But I was told if I value my business (which I do) to go for somebody else.

To get everything I want with godaddy will cost about $30 per year. That's really cheap.

I am willing to pay more, up to $150 per year if I can see the provider has an excellent rating and is reputable.

I have never heard of any of the above mentioned providers so you can understand my hesitation to go with them.

Is there any site that is a dedicated provider rating system with honest user feedback and no fake positive feedback etc that anyone knows of?

    I appreciate the help, cheers.
