Thread: Managed Servers

    Default Managed Servers

How many of you have a "managed" server. Meaning all hardware, software etc.. is managed by someone else or even the data center. I've worked with one company, that had someone manage their servers. All maintainence and upgrades were done by them. Of course, it's going to bring the cost level up, but how many people here manage their own servers?

Well I do not but thought I would post.

I / My company, we maintain our own rackspace, hardware and servers and so on, and anyone in the managed area should try to learn and manage their own stuff.

    It becomes real fun!

Managed and unmanaged hosting are geared toward two different types of customers. If you have the information technology resources to maintain your equipment, then unmanaged hosting is the best choice. However, for those that do not, managed colocation hosting may be the best option available. This leaves the technical aspect of networking equipment to the professionals.

If you ask me, I have no time to manage my servers, so I decided to choose glowhost.com managed servers.
Have seen some good feedbacks about their services and gave them a try.
The thing that really has impressed me is the willingness of the support staff to take the time to explain things to a newbie who asks very basic questions.
BTW, very pleased to find them.
