Default Getting free domain names - your attitude to such offers

There are many companies offering free domain names within their plans. Sometimes I hear it is good idea but others tell of certain risks coupled with such deals.

What could be said of such offers at such company as marblehost.com?

    Thank you.

It's usually not a good idea because sometimes you may be required to keep the domain with that particular company for a certain amount of time before you can transfer the domain. And in some cases (not many), you technically don't even own the domain because the host names themselves as the owner.

Be careful. Be sure the domain name will belong to you not to the web hosting company.

Most of the time you have to pay with a valid credit card and the next year might be considerably higher. If you have a good domain name, I would consider transferring out by end of the first year.

Free domain name is a gift. And if I were you I would issue domain name transfer to another domain name registrar.

I am for an individual approach to each company, because if marblehost.com is honest provider about free domains, some other company may just use it as the advertisement or have some hidden perks for their profit and your loss.
