Default How can Hostgator provide such plans?

I have a hosting account with Hostgator -- I am indeed very satisfied. Zero downtime, very cheap, excellent customer support when it was needed, etc. Thumbs up.

But it is a bit weird though, how some hosting company can provide so much space and bandwidth for so little money? I mean, they offer tons of bandwidth, like 200 GB or so, how can they afford their network costs if I pay $ 7,00 per month?

I don't think they oversell, as they would be gone by now. This company is around for more than 3 years now.

Host Gator does, indeed, oversell their services. The only things they dont oversell are their dedicated servers (obviously).

Regarding the OP - If Host Gator did NOT oversell, they probably would not be in such a position (3+ years and counting).

I don't know. I am here to tell you that that is impossible which does conclude to overselling. Why? Well do you really think thats possible? Its not. Well but you can look up that they have great support and uptime and cheap prices ;p

They are oversell. A lot of people said that they are overselling, but they have their own way to make sure their server running smoothly. I wondering sometimes actually how they managed their server.

Well, they could offer such plans only if they owned a whole datacenter themselves.
It's just the fact that's way too difficult for a personal page or a normal one to reach the bandwith limit they have set(actually i don't think anyone ever passed 30GB bandwith...) and so they are not afraid to oversell.
If 5 accounts consumed all the "available" bandwith they offered, they'd probably be in trouble now
Though i never went with them, since i regard them as oversellers, try googling hostgator oversell and you'll find som very interesting reviews about overselling companies including HostGator!

That is correct. That is the reason they call it "overselling" They offer more than they possible can offer.

Also, take a look at their TOS. And its not only their TOS, all overselling companies have some sort of clause that states you are provided "so-and-so" bandwidth and space, but you arent allowed to surpass the limit xxGB or whatever...

All oversellers have some sort of clause that states the above. If you find one that doesnt, let me know!!
