I hit a fork in the road.... I'm debating wether I should have all future servers in ONE datacenter or spread out among a few datacenters. I see pros and cons of both. The pros of having everything in one datacenter is that the more business you have with them, the more they'll "respect" you and try harder. Also, the simplicity of only opening one ticket or doing one phone call is quite nice. The cons are obvious : If there's a network wide outage, everything is down. All your clients are down and theres no way for you to fix the problem (even having offsite backups may not fix this). Having everything spread out also causes logistical nightmares..different IP blocks, different techs and policies you need to remember, etc... Another problem I'm hitting is Carrier neutral facilities. I really do like the Savvis network(datacenter) and it's quite fast. The problem is, they obviously only have Savvis lines. ThePlanet/Burst/Sago all havemultiple carriers except I've had connection problems with all of those 3. So my feelings are mixed on this. Any thoughts? What have you guys done? Do you keep all your servers in the same datacenter and have an excellent working relationship with them? Or do you spread them out?
ten account, I have a few clients that have >5000 users and need to send email to their userbase a few times a week.. The problem is that when they send email to their whole subscriber base the server slows ...
Two hosting companies, actually, a2hosting.com is one of them.
As for the number of datacenters, I heard that sometimes a host allows his clients a choice between different datacenters, say oneandone.com or marblehost.com.
I host in the two hosting company :
1. in the indowebstar.com webhosting company then
2. in indohoster webhosting company
We have only one Datacenter for now
Yep, I heard some companies allow to choose between their USA-based and UK or Europe-based datacenters, like Marblehost.com. What do you think iof such offers, is it profitable for the company itself?
we have 2 data centers for now
In one. Just do not ask me why.![]()
