i was really confuse too. the first time i log in, it seems like a boring page and i don't know where to click to prompt to somewhere else.

it's like i'd have to subscribe to lynda just to learn the interface.

depends, a person follows you if he finds you interesting and wishes to read your tweets.

Twitter is a great marketing tool, specially when you have a blog, if you had one, try to put up twitter widgets in it so people reading your blog will subscribe to your twitter account and start to follow you, also you may try to search for people with the same interest as yours and start following them, if they found you interesting they will usually follow you as well.. after building a lot of followers, create interesting and catchy twits to capture the attention of other people, specially with your new blog post or products.. if you were successful expect massive traffic to come in your site.. this was just based on my experience on using twitter.
