Its can be used in many ways. I use it as a desktop application which recalls all updates from facebook, linkedin, buzz, wordpress, twitter and facebook pages + more in one interface. It allows me to post one message and select exactly what site i want the message to go on without having to visit the site and type the message out again and again. This creates 5 me's when posting helping me get my word out when it really matters. Its something you need to setup BEFORE you need it if you know what I mean. It takes time to build trust from an online community because most are out there to make money out of selling you junk. Get started at TweetDeck
