Default Ok to Digg own site???

I read recently that you need to DIGG your own posts. Ok, I did that a few times, but I am wondering now if it's acceptable (or considered ok) to Digg your own posts. It seems awfully self-serving and egotistical.

For example, I use Twitter and always tweet my posts, BUT I make sure to interact with others and re-tweet posts other than my own.

Can someone please tell me what the protocol is. Thanks.

Just make sure your doing what your doing on Twitter. That is digg other sites as well or you may get banned. You can get away with only adding your posts on the lesser known/newer bookmarking sites.
These Social Bookmarking sites can produce some good traffic but not for converting into sells or ad clicks.

I never realized that for digg it matters. And I think it's good to have that means to digg your own post, by the way of it you would get good exposure to your post.

And if you get more and more diggs by the other user then no doubt it's appreciable and good for your site.

Regarding to the twitter, re-tweeting is good but it would be then beneficial to you if you are re-tweeting the tweets of other if that are relevant and related to your theme or niche. So always make sure before re-tweeting others tweets, that should be informative, hot news and would be relevant to you. You can also put your links in that re-tweets, if you are posting again that.

It's fine to Digg your own stuff, just don't get spammy and submit/Digg a bunch of crap. They want you to read what you're Digging.

A good question and one I have thought about myself in all honesty. So the long and short of it is that if you interact with other users and sites it's fine to Digg your own sites.
