Do you optimize your sites for each individual search engine?

I only go for Google since it has the most number of users but I'm pretty much surprise that my status with Yahoo is fairly satisfying as well. On one hand, I got no luck with Bing, they have a complicated algorithm far from Google and Yahoo.

I was wondering if that's something you should do or is it more of a "you can if you like" rather than a "must-do". If you do optimize them, what do you do that's different for each one?

For me, it is more of a "you can if you like" thing. I mainly focus my optimization on Google and what usually happens is that, my efforts to rank for google benefited me rankings from yahoo and bing for which I don't optimize my site. So it's like "do it for one and get the benefits from three".

most of the times, you got to choose your priority. it's hard to optimize to even just one search engine, let alone trying to strike a balance between different search engine algorithm
