I think digg would be the best in social networks. Of course, twitter and facebook are both useful, too. They all generate direct traffics and help in building backlinks.

But i think digg is not a social networking websute.. it is a sobial bookmarking website

but I thinks submit your article to directory is more usefull, create unique one,... and put 3 or 4 your link on the article
