i'm not sure too. all i did was submit my site to yahoo and bing. some gurus actually discussed that you should first concentrate on yahoo and msn since these search engine are the hardest unlike google.

On page optimization is very important for yahoo. Recently MS and Yahoo combined SERPs, thus optimization for yahoo will increase your ranking in bing I think.

another trick : make a link to wikipedia on your content. it will make search engines see your content as a high quality content

I think Bing and Yahoo more focus on Onpage optimization. If you want to improve ranking on these search engines then you have to change the content on regular basis.
