There are 2 methods, firstly check your site stats, you'll be able to identify the various googlebots quite quickly. The second is check the stats in your google webmaster tools area.

Everytime I think of web bots, more so google bots I get an image of these crazy massive spiders crawling all over the sites insepcting every aspect to make sure there are no stashed/hidden drugs trying to be freely smuggled to the entire world. LMAO, anyway back to the topic at hand and I'd say just check you stats in the google webmaster toolbar area. Hopefully you know where this is....

You can check in your cpanel web stats that how many times google crawled your web pages. Other than that you can also check in google analytics if you use it.

I'd have to say if it weren't for cpanel then I don't know where I'd be, it has helped with so many things thousands of times over already.

You can check it with the awstats in your cpanel.
The spider will leave a cache in your site after the crawl your site.
If you were using wordpress, you also can install the "who's online" plugin.
It do show sometimes when bots were indexing your site.

The easiest way to understand and learn about google bots is to log in your google webmaster account. You can see all the details there. Then there are web stats that would help you see how many times google bot has viewed your site...

I have a software tool in which I can analyze my raw server logs. It will give me all the stats about the bots and crawlers.
