Hi Everybody,
If you are yet to create a Facebook page for your business or company, there is no time like the present for jumping on the bandwagon. These days, if you aren't on social networking websites you just aren't going to get noticed. But now that you have a Facebook page or you are setting one up, how can you make it SEO friendly :
Facebook Page Name
The first thing you need to do for you SEO is decide on a page name. Ideally, you should use your business name, but make sure it isn't too generic. Once you have a name for your Facebook page DO NOT change it - this is a nightmare for SEO.
Facebook URL
You may not know this, but Facebook now allows vanity names for your URL, which does wonders for SEO. Keep in mind you are required to have 100 fans before Facebook will allow you to do this. As long as the URL includes at least one of the terms related to your business, it is helpful for SEO.
Keyword Rich Text
When filling out the 'About' and 'Info' sections of your Facebook page, ensure that you use keywords as you would in SEO for any other website. Include your business address in the 'About' section so that you will pop up in local searches, and include links to your website and blog in the 'Info' section.
Picture Descriptions
Using keywords in your Facebook picture descriptions as much as possible is great for your SEO - provided, that is, that you have images on your page (which you should). Ensure that the description makes sense from a human and an SEO or search engine spider point of view.
Keyword Rich Statuses
If you are trying to implement an SEO strategy for your Facebook page, do not forget the importance of including keywords in your status updates to boost the visibility of your business. Remember not to put everything on your Facebook page - you are using SEO to try and entice visitors to check out your website.
