Image should have descriptive file name.HTML image tag attribute such as ALT and TITLE should have 7-10 word description about the image.This will help to get high ranking on google image search.

In terms of getting more traffic images only Bing(MSN) gives more traffic images than Google as long as you did those tips. It is really effective to generate the traffic from those images.
