As google keeps on updating its algorithm regularly, and just recently added site speed as one of the factors to get good ranks, this makes impossible for any SEO to guarantee any too-good-to-be-true results within a short period of time. Take note, site indexing takes time, bots really takes a long way to discover some good links pointing to your site, and it takes months to get the result of your handwork. Now, do you believe when they say "I can get your site thousands of traffic within few days." Of course, you might wonder. And they might can achieve this. But I am sure that it wouldn't be white hat - a good practice - but rather something black hat which can badly hurt your online reputation once caught by these watchful search engines - especially google.

Sure it's possible. Get your story on the front page of Digg and get ready for 50-60K visit's that day. Something to consider is that this kind of traffic doesn't convert well. So don't expect a lot of sale's or signup's. Depending on your hosting,you may not be able to handle this much traffic.
