hey u you can start from google..it is one of the best search engines..and for general information google is best

Yes I too will suggest Google, it is the best of all search engines and so you can start your work from there itself.

I think it is not possible for a single person to start a new search engine.
Can you tell how did you design it?

You need to seriously consider why people will use your search engine instead of Google. What advantage will your search engine have? This is more important than the technology you use.

I have not designed it,but i want to know basic idea behind the search engine,so when i am clear about that,i'll make design.

I don't use google that much as i do before,it doesn't show good result as before,so many times i am not able to get accurate results,so my basic idea is to start engine by which i can be more accurate.

If your developing your own search engine, actually it is not easy but you need to analyze first the flow of system in Search Engine like Google. You must study the theory of Search Engine bot using SEO Tools. In terms of developing you must provide your own server hosting and paying an ISP connection. In programming language it is up to your hardware and settings but you can combine 2 to 3 Script or Server Site Language and prepare networking database like MySQL, MS SQL Server and Oracle. About Masterfile, it is not easy because there are million website uploaded in internet, but you research how to crawl all website in a whole internet. About in implementation, If you feel your search engine is okay to surfer then advertise or promote your own search engine in Market.

@viraj - I saw the facilities of Google, I mean you need to spend more money for facilities of your own search engine. And You need more workers to set-up and maintaining your facilities for your own search engine.
