Do you think marijuana should be legalized in the U.S.? Why or why not?
i'm not sure if it will do good though. but it should be legalized for medical purposes.
I agree. Well, I think it should just be legalized, period.
Have any of you seen what's happening in places in this nation where it has been legalized for "medical" purposes? Legalizing yet another mind-altering drug {nicotine and alcohol already are} makes no sense at all, except from the stand point of taking it out of the hands of criminals, which that MIGHT do, but it puts it into the hands of government, and I'm not sure these days there's a lot of difference there. {That's another topic} Marijuana is an hallucinogen, and a 20 times stronger carcinogen than nicotine, both of which are detrimental, so even calling a "medical" usage is an oxymoron. And if it was truly for medical purposes, taking it in pill or capsule form would accomplish the same effect, with less danger to the user, and all those around as well. However you don't get the same buzz that way... People need to stop doping themselves as a way to cope and do something constructive to change what's really wrong, with either themselves that they feel compelled to take some drug, or with the world around them that they feel such compulsion! Then the whole illegal drug business would simply dry up and go away...
Yes but why should the government have any say so in what you put in your body? Our prisons are over crowded from people that have simple marijuana possession charges. Out of all of the drugs available marijuana is the safest. If you want sources I can get you them.
I don't think it is a good idea to make it legal. I heard marijuana can cure stomach ache but have it over use leads to addiction of it which will affect our central nervous system and our brain is at risk.
It becomes necessary for government to intervene when citizens act irresponsibly in ways that endanger other citizens in a large and complex society, and that's why drugs and alcohol are regulated. IF every citizen acted responsibly about their use, there would be no need for a government to do so. It's not the "simple marijuana possession" but the fact that each person convicted on such charges KNEW the law of the land said that was illegal, and went ahead and flouted that law; it was for THAT they were convicted. If we're a nation of laws and rule of law then disobedience, breaking the laws must have consequences or you have what's happening with our current government in DC now: anarchy. And surely if you're at all aware you can see how destructive that is being for us all.
I guess to strictly regulate it rather than legalize is the appropriate term. But if there are a lot of other medicinal plant alternatives which can provide a similar cure that marijuana can offer, there is no need to legalize. Just from its popularity as an addictive drug may only cause more disadvantage than advantage.

Even strict regulation, which has been tried in CA and several other states, is an abysmal failure; what that does is turn citizens into "stoned" zombies on welfare, because they can't focus to keep jobs any longer. Unfortunately, I don't know that there are any "good" answers. You're right about there being alternatives that would provide the "medicinal" effects without the buzz. The reason they aren't being used is precisely that; no buzz! Efforts to get marijuana and other drugs legalized are nothing more than efforts to have legal highs, as one can with alcohol. These are MIND-altering drugs, and so is nicotine; and all of them have seriously dangerous side effects and consequences for regular use. Political proponents of the movement want their constituents "zombified" so they won't resist the political agenda that's in the works, one which is decidedly against the best interests of those constituents and the majority of humanity, world-wide, in fact. The leader of that pack is the Congresswoman form San Francisco, currently, and one who's doing more harm to the citizens of this nation, single-handedly, than even they marijuana they're smoking, which is more than bad enough.
There are too many cracker and drug dealer in US that already buzz up the cops and the feds..so why bother mah-riyuana..lol
