PHP in tpl file

Can I use php code in tpl file? I want some example how can I do it? Please send me a code of it , its urgent

You can use following code to include php in your tpl file

{php} echo "Hello"; {/php}

I am still getting an error that syntyax is invalid , what will be the problem ?
