Link on the other niche useful?

These links would prove useful to you, but perhaps not as useful as if they were on the same relevancy. It is still possible to have relevant links on a different niche, this is to say the nich may not be the same, bu there is a relationship of some description between the niches.

IT is good to get free traffic from your friend website. but it does not count as backlink i think

yes it's useful for your site but you must put your link in relevant category

If it brings you traffic than it is a useful link. Most likely it will not help you rank any better though. Relevant links are what gives your site authority.

I feel this is the best answer.Getting links from different niche is good it will but its good to have some relevancy in the description of niches.

You will get more advantage if niche of the site is what you have your keyword. Otherwise you wont get traffic related to your site you will just get the hits

always links from same niche will have better effect than, the links from the other niche.

I've always heard that pretty much any dofollow link counts but those links in relevant content or areas carry more importance.
