You mean your intellectual property like a blog post or a video or a picture or something? Well, pretty much everything is up for grabs. Look at the blue and red picture of Obama, that was taken from a photo by AP and now they are asking for compensation...

Everything is not up for grabs! Just because people take it doesn't mean it's okay for them to do so. It's copyright infringement and if you use something someone else created to make a version of your own without their permission it's called creating a derivative work. It's illegal too.
