Thread: Joomla Installation Error

    Default Joomla Installation Error

    Mates,

I am trying to install Joomla on my domain. I have unzipped and uploaded the Joomla installation package folder. When I entered my domain name, I was able to see the Joomla Preinstallation page. Now the problem is with "Display Errors" option under "Recommended Settings Check:" category.
The Recommended option says it should be ON whereas my Actual option is OFF. Any idea how can I turn this ON?

Make sure you make config.php in joomla folder turn to 777 in CHMOD. You can change it in the FTP settings. I also you to read this thread I think you post in the other forums http://www.v7n.com/forums/coding-for...ion-error.html

upineter, Thanks for your suggestion. But I guess I have found the answer. I posted the same question over various forums including Joomla Official Support forum. They have replied asking me to turn the display_errors flag ON in the php.ini in order to turn Display Error option ON but now my problem is I dont have access to the php.ini file (By the way I am free host plan of 000webhots). I think we will have access to php.ini file only when we are under a dedicated hosting!

Most free webhosts have a few settings turned off in their php.ini file due to security reasons.
I do not know why, but I believe that your free host has the 'display error' setting turned off in it's php.ini.

You can either request them to turn it on, since the way I see it, it does not pose any security threats as such. Or, you could move to some other web host.

The display error setting is not really essential unless you have a good grasp on PHP and want to make sure that any errors encountered are echoed by the server and made visible to you.

If your webhost use Cpanel you just need one click to install it. You just klik fantastico menu then install your joomla.

Please tell us more details about your problem dude, there several recommended settings on joomla instalation there are:

Safe Mode (Recomended OFF) -- This setting on php.ini
Display Errors (Recomended ON) -- This setting on php.ini
File Uploads (Recomended ON) -- This setting on server conf
    Magic Quotes GPC (Recomended ON)
    Magic Quotes Runtime (Recomended OFF)
Register Globals (Recomended OFF) -- This setting on joomla.php
    Output Buffering (Recomended OFF)
    Session auto start (Recomended OFF)
Register Globals Emulation (Recomended OFF) -- This setting on php.ini

and that's true that you can't access to php.ini in free webhosting, so better you got paid hosting, or just ignored it, joomla will still running.

hello Wahyudi, read that dahlia84 said that he has found the answer already. So there is no point discussing it further. But i could also have helped if dahlia84 did not find the answer before

Not quite sure how you get back to that, it's in the installation configuration sequence somewhere. I'd uninstall and start all over again but upload the zip file not the unzipped files and then unzip via your host. There's a free video that walks you through the process at my mates site at Joomla Download.
