How to design landing page?

I am a good programmer but bad designer as I am trying to design somethign myself can anyone tell me how can I design a landing page?

Landing page just same as html page but you have to take care that there is no external css in it.

Since you're developer, use calling function or component code to maintain clean and organized your code in main landpage.
