Thread: drop shadows

  1. #1

    Default drop shadows

mostly they are frowned upon, but you can use em w/ lower opacity, and for stuff in bg/ foreground, but usually not text and stuff

I'm making a sig and depth is bad, so just wondering what you guys think about drop shadows

it depends, i would never use them in a the style of sig i do, but then again, they can look great in a vector, so it really just depends

jor depth, try bluring around the focal gradually, then sharpening the focal, and also use good lighting,

your shadow doesn't float in midair. why should it in an art piece?
DS is good for text though

hmm... i guess it all just depends on what ur sig actually is... helps add depth though, so as i said b4 it all depends

absolutely not on a render so the shadow is visible in the BG. that just makes the background look 2D, which is messed up. the drop shadow effect on renders is really only useful in a vector-ish style.

Vouch when I make pictures I only use shadow on text. then smudge it into background. gives a more 3d look.
