i have silverlight but i cant really see where it works

Depends on where you want to apply these software. Both are good applications. Flash is the most commonly used technology.

I am not really a fan of Microsoft & given its limitations pointed out by jilyv above, I would prefer Flash.

As far as my opinion is concerned i think adobe flash is better because i do not know where to apply silverlight actually.

I never use it and always prefer flash instead of silverlight.
