Converting Image to vector

I have an image and I want to convert it into the vector, which software should I use for it? I want to open it into AI later.

You can download Inkscape and use that to trace the picture and make it into a vector. There is an option there to automatically convert bitmaps with the Inkscape program but it's not very effective in my opinion. Tracing by hand is very time consuming but gives you a far superior result. The download file is around 20MB and free. Hope that helps!

I think you have Illustrator on you machine. If this is the case, then this can be done inside the illustrator. It is very resource consuming process, and may take a little more time.

Try Fireworks or Flash, both work with vector images along with a number of others.

Recommended software for converting from image to vector are Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Fireworks CS3. Tips: If you have pen tablet please use it, because pen tablet can make easier for making and editing your image.
