Great HB Graphic Designer Competition - Final poll!

Hey everybody,

It's January 17, 15:00 GMT and both remaining participants have sent their creations. Now it's time to vote and elect the winner of the Great Hostbidder Graphic Designer Competition.

For the final round, both participants had to give their opponent two tasks, of which they had to accept one and create the given task. Per participant, I will post his creation together with the appropriate chosen assignment.

When you've made your choice, please use the poll to submit your vote. Only votes submitted by this poll will count! This means it's not necessary to post who you vote for, although a review or some remarks are much appreciated. Beware that the poll will automatically close in 3 days, which is on Jan 20, 15:00 GMT.

By using a poll, it's true that both participants can vote as well, but each user can only vote once so this won't make any difference, assuming that they both vote for their own creation.

Anyway, after reading this small introduction, here are the creations of Zulgold1 and hurricane. Have fun voting and may the best win!

Chosen assignment:

let's say you have to create an icon to put on a computer (8 x 8 px but you can make it 100 x 100 px). The icon has to represent a smell. It should also show if the smell is intenser or less intenser. Important fact: you can't use a nose to represent the smell.

Well, I was expecting something else of you Zulgold... I'm wondering whether you can use this design you made as a logo on a computer... Anyway, let's see what other people think.

Thanks Pirata for the act of starting this thread.I really like the way you explain things.Anyways coming back,Well I like the sense of Zugold1,quite humorous though(I am not offensive).For Hurricane I love your designs and this was a quite professional one.My vote for you!

As swastik2020 asked me to review both creations and to give a score out of 25, here are my thoughts. I'm not a pro so don't expect professional comments from me.

Zulgold1:

Actually I was a bit surprised to see such a design from you. It's true that it ain't an easy task, but it's the final round so things may be a bit more difficult. I guess it's quite clear that the smell is rather strong and you sticked to the rule to make it no bigger than 100x100px. However, if you really want to use this as an icon of 8x8px, it may be a bit unclear.
Besides from all that, I don't really see this as a high-standing graphic design. I've seen better from you in other threads on this forum. It seems like it's just two images placed against each other.

Final evaluation: sticked to the rules but disappointing graphic design: 13/25

Not an easy task either. How would you combine a car and a laptop? I think hurricane did it quite well. He sticked to the rules and to the details Zulgold1 gave him so nothing to add about this.
Zulgold1 asked for a professional look and I think this is more than simply good looking. It almost seems like the car is really flying in my opinion, although it was originally a static picture. I think it would be nicer when there wasn't any animation but Zulgold1 asked for it so you had to. I can't exactly say what's a minor in your creation, although there must be some I guess. I can't imagine any creation would be perfect.

Final evaluation: sticked to the rules and good graphic design: 22/25

i think when i see the design it is very funny and it make me feel smell so i think whta he ask was shown in picture but is small hurricane make very good design i like it and i expect he would make it very fresh and good but i vote zugold it is hard to show that feeling in little space but it is doning it good with this **** in face

well i'm not agree with you coolclio, the design he had to make is for an icon on a computer... so actually it should be 8x8 px but to make it easier for him i said 100x100 px ... i also asked to make something so you can see that there is more smell in the are or less... don't see that in the design...

Well as per the votes and the review the total points of the finalists are : Hurricane - 22 points from Pirata + 4 votes = 34 Points(3 points for each vote) and Zulgold = 13points from pirata + 2 votes = 19 points.

:wha4: Poop?! hmmmmmmmm oook hmmm what to say... I'll try to be serious here... Poop can be a part of some artistic composition, but if the main idea was to provoke the sense of smell in this case the result is opposite in my case... It has more sexual connotation, but really perverted, it's not that I have dirty mind xaxaxax but this is what I "read" from the first design (animal, nudity, defecation...)... Plus discrimination... Why the person is female? xexex It gives even more sexual tone to the design... Design itself is mhhhhhhhhm Pic. is too small for details like this and maybe this is an advantage, on bigger one it would be visible more that poop is here and there everywhere... I really don't know what else to say, so I'll "shut up" now...

Hurricane mhhhhhhmh your design is good, idea is mhhhm partially good, but Ok...
