Have you guys heard of this Google product called Google Gears? Does anyone know what it is actually about? Have you used it?

It's an applet for your web browser
Here are some of the things it does:

Let web applications interact naturally with your desktop
Store data locally in a fully-searchable database
Run JavaScript in the background to improve performance
