Thread: Page Rank Why?

  1. #1

    Default Page Rank Why?

Why does it seem like everybody is obsessed with Page Rank? I could careless what my PR is. I would like to hear your thoughts on why people care so much about their PR.

Page Rank helps Google determine the relevance of your site by using an algorithm which is determined by how many internal and external links you have. Page Rank will help you get listed on Alexa too.

Like it or not, it's how most people assess your site's worth when it comes to selling it or link placement. I think it's become too important in all honesty and don't see why Google should be seen as judge and jury as to the quality of a site.

Google does weed out the competition through its search engine - so Page Rank is a fairly accurate way to describe quality of a site.

    Default PR

My thing is when people are looking to swap a link with someone. Their first question is what PR does the site have. The question should be how many visitor's are they getting. A PR2 site can have more visits than a PR3 site. So if the PR2 site is getting 500-1000 more visits a month than the PR3 site I'll take the link from the PR2 site. That could give me a potential of more visits.

My point is people should worry more about visitors than PR. Same goes for buying site's-more visits more potential revenue.

Hear, hear Spike. I agree. If I'm placing an ad or link there I'd want as many eyeballs on it as is possible. It bugs me how much influence PR ranking has but until someone comes up with something to rival it, I doubt we'll see its demise anytime soon.

As stated by others.. pr is a means of google ranking the quality of your site, but personally I only use it for link selling; thats where it seems to come into play for me.

    Thanks!

I agree Decipher. The only reason I would care for PR is when I'm selling links. People love that PR.
Not asking for traffic stats is just one less thing I have to do

    Page rank important because :
    1. become indicator, how importance your site/blog are
    2. it's increase your blog/site price when you want to flip it
    3. if you play paid to review, more PR mean more job offer
