Meta keywords Importance In Google

Hi,

I have read so many times on different levels, weather i am reading about on-page or discussing with my seniors, they all say that after last major update meta keywords are not important any more search engines now, but well we still put them in our code, so if they are not important than why we still using them.

Please tell me are they important as the same they were in past ? or if they are not important now after the update, then why they are not important now ?

Meta keywords tag is no longer important for Google because webmasters have abused its usage. But, I am sure you are not optimizing your website for Google only, so you need to include them in your page for good ranking in other search engines.

I don't know about future changing but still it is effective right now !

Meta keywords are irrelevant for Google optimization but it is still good for yahoo and Bing Optimization.

You still have to include Meta Keywords as part of your optimization. Some search engines still use it as tags, besides do you want your competitors have an edge over your site when your have NO Meta keywords content?

It is relevant for minor search engine, as those search engine is not as advance as Google and Bing. The effort to insert the code is minimum, insert with few meta keywords will do.

Note: Bing will penalty those site which over optimize meta keywords.
