Thread: New Google +1 system

  1. #1

    Default New Google +1 system

What do you guys think about the new Google+1 system? They say that it will help improve your rankings using it. I implemented it in my site Hoteles Acapulco and got only a few Google+1's and I am thinking that maybe there are not so many normal users with a Google account or they don't know what the +1 is. What do you think about it?

It is good thing they have implemented, but I couldn't find any change in my traffic after I implemented to my blog.
Maybe it will take time for the users to get familiar with it and then +1 will compete with likes of facebook and twitter buttons

How many +1's do you have so far? What kind of traffic do you have? I was researching a bit more and have seen some sites getting a lot of +1's, mainly US sites that are Tech or Game oriented. I guess these are the types that would have a google account. My site with Mex visitors looking for hotels doesn't seem to know what it is.

Is I understand it will not affect Page Rank, but just give preference in listings over other sites. fx if you have 2 PR5 sites both strong and competing for #1 listing on the keyword "SEO" then a site having more +1's could get the advantage. But directly getting higher PR I don't think so.

Google unveiled today it would be releasing a brand new “experiment,” as most people are calling it. Basically, in a nutshell, they are implementing a “ranking system” that allows users to “like” a particular page or sub-page (give it a thumb’s up so to speak), sort of like your use to seeing with the current “Facebook plug-in” just about everywhere on the web… In fact, its almost identical to the Facebook plug-in, from a visual standpoint, in every way. It’s not until you start reading about what Google “intends” to do with this data that you can start to see differences. I have a feeling that this new “experiment” is essentially becoming another attempt at perfecting there current “Authority and Confidence Ranking System“ also known as their current “PR, aka, Page Ranking System”. I am just like you though, still very much in the dark as to how this new “feature” will effect our page ranking “precisely”. I don’t want to leave any doubt about this, but you can bet that there will be furious competition for these new “+1″ rankings, I’m sure.

I think this +1 is to help google see what sites are real sites liked by users and what are link farms. Personally I think this is good, I really hate competing with all those link farms and they jade users surfing sites after they have visited those. Good on Google, will be interesting to see how this will affect rankings in the long rung. I think if you run good real sites with good content you don't have to worry, it could actually end up being an advantage for you. If you run link farms... then I bet you will start seeing drops in rankings soon.

The Google +1 button is simply a way to share search results, ads and web pages with friends.I think it may influence the SERP rather than the PR of the site
