SEM and SEO?

I have a blog and want to promote it on Google. Which of SEO or SEM (Search engine marketing) is more effective for me?

SEO and SEM will do good cause for your site, but for long term SEO will have better ROI therefore if you want to kickstart SEM would be the best since SEO will take time and patient not to mention we all here playing cat & mouse game with Google
