Paid for Show or Clicks?

I was sitting on my computer trying to figure out some things for my website when I thought does Google pay you for showing ads any way or do you only get payed per the clicks on the ads? I wondered this because I probably won't get tonnes of clicks on my ads when I get adsense!

Google will pay for every click you have on your ads. But it's not you that is going to click the ads. It's a violation of their TOS if you click your ads.
