Thread: What is Google Page ranking?

  1. #1

Default What is Google Page ranking?

I think Google page ranking means in which page our website displays on Google search results. For example, if my website is displayed on 2nd page of Google search results. I will say my website "Google PR" is 2.
    Am I correct?

No I don't think there is any old thread discussing about the meaning of Google Page Ranking.
I found some old threads about Page Ranking, but all threads included discussions about how to improve Google Page Ranking rather than the meaning of Google PR. So I've started new one.

    YES, you're wrong )
From what i've expirienced, PR is based on how many visitor that came to your website.
A new blog, say 1 day old could be displayed in first row with it's website doman address search. [but first, put the link in PR 6 website]

lol..page rank has got nothing to do with traffic nor with SERP(search engine rank position)
It tells about the quality back links to a website. The more the quality back links better is PR.Simple.

Altough you have many backlinks but if there's no visitor coming or traffics,.. it won't got good PR.

Once, i've made a blogger blog, without no optimation and have just 4 short post and 6-10 backlink from my own sites, it could reach PR 1 in 3-4 month.

When i was checking where's the traffic comes from...?
    it's Google..!

Not backlinks,i said quality backlinks. So if you get only a few backlinks from a good PR say PR4,5,6 website you would easily get a good PR.
Besides this PR doesn't has much to do with traffic.
For traffic people more talk about Alexa traffic rank.Thats a good indication of the level of traffic a site is getting.
BUt nowadays people evaluate website through many otherways. This PR thing is mostly relevant for well established big websites,i.e. a technical jargon for technical staff.
But one thing you never know.Only google knows how this all works. There a complez alogrithms working behind all this.

    Thanks friends.
I read in an another thread, we can have upto PR 10 in Google toolbar, and upto 8 in Google directory. Though I don't know what they are talking about, I have downloaded Google Toolbar. Now I want to check some websites in Google Toolbar to see their PR, but I don't know how to do that. Can you tell me, please?

There is only one toolbar related to "PR" i.e. Page rank, but in that it doesn't showing any number, instead it shows like a graph, the level goes up for some website, and comes down for some, I really don't understand that.
