if u use 32bit OS, it might only be able to read 3GB~3.4GB, no more than that
coz of the limitation of 32bit OS, especially if u have shared graphic memory, it will cut ur ram
the reason 32bit OS cant use more than 4GB is ,2^32 = ...(count ur self )
and 2^64= ... , so yeah, 64bit OS can address a larger chunk of data in RAM and it can use more than 4GB
