difference between "website layout", "website theme" and "website skin"?

Friends, I usually understand all the three words(layout, theme, skin) as "look of the websites". I mean whenever anyone talks about website layout or theme or skin, I consider the following stuffs : background color, background image, text fonts, text colour, and systematic arrangements of the contents.

I would like to know am I correct what I have in mind about layouts, themes, and skins? If I'm wrong, please tell me what's the difference between them.

Friend, I don't create threads for any topics before I search for them in Google. Only if I can't understand from there, I create thread here about the topic.
I hope some other members will help me. I'm really confused about "website skin", "layout" and "theme". Since it's related to web designing, I don't think anything wrong in posting this section.

This is a tricky question . I think they are the same but not quite sure. Theme is meant to be how it looks like with colors and layout the columns, widgets and skin thing i don't know. Any body know about the differences.

They're basically the same thing, Lemon. They refer to the visual appearance of a website. The more appropriate term is used according to the context in which it is used.

Probably some members will disagree with me about this since "themes" and "skins" also often offer some extra functionalities to the website. However, we're still talking about the same thing: website's appearance.

website layout is diff from website theme and website skin.
whereas website theme and website skin are approx the same...
but like ikki said they all refer to visual appearance of the site.

Hello kidd, of course I need more info as I'm still confused about these words. Also, please tell me about template. Is it another word for "theme"?
From my understanding, we can change our website skin and theme without affecting layouts of our forum, but if we change template and layout, all our contents will be shifted to different places.
