What makes you join a new forum?

What are the points that are important for you when joining another new forum?

Which features are the most important ones and what puts you off?

I join them when I want to get my name recognized for something or need help with something. Ie coding forums, hosting, web design etc.

I joined a forum if only they provide a dofollow signature links

i also join forum if i need something to get done. like i need to login so that i can't see lots of ads in the messages.

I join a forum after checking to see how much activity they have going on there. I need lots of posts and members at one time to join.

Well, for me my reason why i joined in new forums because some tips cannot be found on some forums. I also joined to new forums because there are some questions that need some answers that and some members of that forums don't answer my questions that's why i joined in some forums. Another reason is... to be honest and i need some backlinks from other forums.
