Are .TV domains only for tv stations?

I would like to register a .tv domain but a friend told me that .tv are reserved for tv stations only.
Couldn't find any information elsewhere.
Someone can help me out here?

I don't think .tv domain would only for tv stations. Any business could use it though it is normal to have a .com domain. But it looks like .tv domain is the most expensive one.

.tv isn't really just for tv stations. but of course having a streaming video site or the likes is i think better for such extension.

They are not only for those types of sites. You can use a .tv domain for any kind of site. You can use it on Blogger too if you want. It's just like any other extension.

Too many people think the same, frankly, its 100% wrong!
.tv isn't targeted to TV stations at all, it been marketed as if so, but in fact, they are a [ccTLD] what means, its a country code in base! yes, .tv is as the same as .co.uk, .us, .de ....etc
It been launched to the Islands of Tuvalu
when it comes to domains, we have a gTLD like .com, .net, .info ....etc and a ccTLD like .us, .co.uk, .de, .fr ....etc most people thinks .tv (.fm as well) are a gTLD while they are a ccTLD

Nope, anyone can register it, and anyone can use it (at least the local residents of the locality it represents). They are country domains, which the South Pacific island of Tuvalu are allowing for the alternative use of "television".

Check out TVUPlayer. They usually have some cable broadcasts like comedy central and PromoJunkieO.

Also, check out openhulu.com for full episodes. Its a open version of hulu.com. Registering on Hulu.com is worth it, though.

.biz for business, but some people use it for another purpose
so, .tv is same. You can register it.
