You'll probably need a domain reseller account (to become accrediated registar will be too expnsive). For domain resellers you'll want to find either A) a reliable registar such as enom or directi, for reliable (but slgihtly more expensive) service, or B) a cheap reseller from a sub reseller (god knows how many layers you're under) for cheap (but not always guarenteed) survice. After you get a reseller account (typically free to apply but require some deposit before you can start selling), you would have two choices: 1) use their interface (and everyone will know you're a so and so reseller) or 2) code your own interface using their API (this can be hard work). You might have the option to migrate back and forth between the two if your registar allows it, otherwise you're stuck with what you got. Either ways, after you're done with all those, you can start selling domains

Thanks alot. Any idea what scripting language a tipical API uses?
Depending on provider, some registar provides php, other provides asp. I even saw one a while back which uses java serverlets as well. You should take into consideration of what your server is capable of, and what your scripting levels are at, and look into what language they offer. I think Enom and Directi both offers PHP / ASP ones for those who wishes to use API access, so you may find those two more confortable than others.
Could you maybe explain to me how these work? I was looking at the reseller from enom, but it looks as if I make no profit. Is there any way to make a profit from these things? Oh, and I'm more than fluent in PHP.

As you may know I've recently set up HBdomains.com to help with the provision of free domain names to members of HostBidder.com. The site is based on the www.directi.com reseller system. It is very easy to set up. Basically they provide you with the site which you can customise and point a domain name to.
Other options to consider are enom (already mentioned) and the www.godaddy.com reseller service at http://www.wildwestdomains.com.
You might also find the AWBS (formerly known as DRAMs) webhosting and domain name control and billing system useful. View their products at http://www.awbs.com/products.php

Thanks alot for the information Fergal. I think I'll start saving up for a reseller from wildwest. As for now though, my goal looks to be more along the lines of getting myself a server first and foremost.
Thanks again
Chris
Admin Edit
Please use the Hosting Offers forum, only for hosting offers.
