Default Why is there difference in domain extension prices?

There is a difference between domain name provider for a particular extension.
For instance take .com domain, its available for $10 at godaddy and some other providing for $7 or less? Why is this so much difference ?

Do you mean the domain extensions themselves, or the price that each domain host sells them for?
If you're talking about the extensions themselves, it's about the quality.
If you're talking about the registrars, they can sell it for however much they want to. They're trying to make a profit.

may be beacause of demand of that particular extension like ".com" going for more $ than say ".info", got my point i might be wrong though its my personal view

That`s called marketing buddy. they own the company n provide better uptime n better services so they might cost u some more $`s but if there uptime is 50-70% n there server gets hanged on n they are not yet the best in the market they`ll even provide u in $5 but when u are talking of reputed sites like godaddy they are not running a non-profit organization buddy everybody needs money n the extra charge is for them to earn for what they provide.
I wish to change the world, but they don`t provide me the source. HACK - 'R'

Cant understand your confusion. The thread is basically why there is a difference in pricing of tlds from differenet registrars. It comes down to a marketing/sales issue.

It depends on what deals the registrar company can get. Also the size of the company will depend on what price they charge.

Registrars/resellers will charge what they think the market will bear. Sometimes they will sell a domain at a loss, if bundled with webhosting (where they make their profit) From the looks of the Network Solutions website they are still charging $35/year for a .com...around $10/year seems to be the current market average, though.
