My understanding is that while there's a couple of reasons that DMOZ takes a very long time to get listed in such as backlogs of submissions to be reviewed, the biggest reason of all is that people don't get listed with DMOZ is failure to follow the submission guidelines.

There also seems to be a huge lack of editors. It's not unusual to be rejected but if you want to increase your chances of being accepted for an editor position, then you could familiarise yourself with the DMOZ Editing Guidelines. That way you'll have a foundational knowledge of what qualities and capabilites they look for in an editor.

For webmasters, that link also has sections like the Site Selection Criteria which gives you an insight into why your site may have been rejected in the past and what you need to do to correct that. If you take the time to go beyond the submit your URL page at DMOZ, you can find out a lot of helpful information to enhance your chances of acceptance.

Dmoz is the most important directory to submit for webmasters. The problem is we have to wait a long because Dmoz manually edit the directory submission. Dmoz follows a strict guidelines for admission. I have tried two times without a success in two years.

I've had the same problem with DMOZ, I have probably tried 3 times over the past few years and I've never been admited to the listing. I have followed all the directions, so I'm not sure what the problem is...
