PHP is way more better than ASP and wins and is better than ASP by a narrow mark as they are equally good and effective. but if you were to compare then PHP is better in the sense that to me it is the easiest program language to learn and master and you can accomplish a lot.

I like PHP, but that doesn't mean that PHP is better than asp...the major difference is asp is created by microsoft, and it's a windows only computer. But ASP.NET is way better than PHP...everyone says that...(even though I don't use asp.net, I trust it's better than PHP)...

I just got into PHP first, so I think it's easier to learn right now.

My personally favourite is PHP, because I know much more about it than about ASP, but ASP is not so bad when I tried/read it, it is just a thing with what you start at the beginning, but PHP is much more popular. They both offer things which are useful, so I can't say what is better. Yeah, a lot of people say that ASP.NET is the best, even though I don't know why, but my first impression of it wasn't very good, maybe when I will have time I might look into it.. :/

You know, I haven't read many opinions that give a reason why it's better other than 'I know it better' or something like that.
I tried ASP a few times, but it seemed pretyt hard compared to PHP, so I didn't really learn it, so I can't say which is better. However, I can say that learning PHP was much easier for me.

Also, I could add that it depends on what you start or what other languages you know.. php is very similar to c, and c++ is not so similar to c, but people argue about it.. anyway as you noticed, or maybe not, the microsoft created languages has one, some kind of a structure, on asp, asp.net, visual basic, c# and stuff.. I prefer the c style, that means php, perl.. I don't know there to add javascript, but it is quite a stupid language, but useful - somewhere in the middle of those, same as pascal.

Talking I think ASP.NET is better...

I think ASP.NET is better than anything. Like it's name suggests you can create active pages using ASP. With .NET technology you can quickly create and manage server side application with ease.

I dont know much about PHP.

Yeh my favourite is PHP because its the first one I learnt and more hosts come with it that others. I have never used ASP myself but I think its just like visual basic only web based.

If I had to say which one was better I would say PHP because I find it easy to use and also know a lot of hosts that support it.
