Classical message board
Hi guys. I am in search of a classical message board. Right now I am using one which is known as "my little forum". You can have a look at it here: http://dhoni.naif.frih.net/mboard/forum.php
The problem with this is that its kind of limited. Limited in the sense that it doesnt have a way through which the admin of the forum can change the password of a user or anything as such. I was just wondering if anyone here knows of a better board which is similar to "my little forum".
By the way, I hope I have posted this question on the right forum.

Naif, why not to use phpbb? or simple machines? they are great boards, very easy to use, easy to modify, apply new skins and whatever u want.
i use phpbb for my forum: http://loreleiweb.com/forum/index.php
u can get the code here: http://www.phpbb.com/
simple machines has a different structure, take a look at my friend's forum: http://forum.weblamp.net/
u can get it here: http://www.simplemachines.org/
i think this thread should be moved to graphics and web development.

Hi Lorelei. Thanks for replying to my question again. The reason I dont want to use a modern forum like phpBB is because most people who visit my sites are having difficulty using it. You can have a look at my Mahendra Singh Dhoni website. They are hardly 100 posts made on the phpBB forum where as on the classical message board, there are more than 600 posts. Everyone wants the classical board but only a few want to use phpBB2 forums. This is why I am on the look out for a classical forum. I didnt know about Simple machines but unfortunately, this isnt what I am looking for

i see what u mean, but it's up to u how many forums / sub forums u make... u can create one forum with only one main theme and only a few sub categories, that way the forum won't look empty, if that is what u r afraid of.
on the other hand, maybe blog is what will suit u better in the first place? it's quite similar to a forum in away, though people wont need to register, they can post their comments in a quite organized way... and u can modify / delete inappropriate entries though ur cPanel. blogs are very flexible when it comes to design and structure + u have an easy way to subscribe to miscellaneous feeds which promotes ur blog indirectly.

PunBB is a very easy and simple bulletin board. I can't imagine your members would find that hard to use.
I would recommend that. Also if you want, have a look here as they have a lot of BB scripts there.
I also just found phorum.org and that one seems easy enough to use.

SMF is good, and its easy to use. The significant difference of visitors you noticed in the two sites that used different bulletin boards, that is because of how they advertised it, etc. SMF also has many mods which you can use to enhance your visitors' experience at your forums, and I am sure that they will get attracted.

Personally, i find the a phpbb forum is ideal for a small community, SMF also. But going with a customized Bulletin board is the ebst way to go, most are free and are pretty straight forward and come packed with features that you and your suers are sure to find enticing.

I use XMB when phpbb isn't working out right. I don't know what you used for your "little forum", the page didn't work for me
