Does anyone know of a program thats performs many of the same basic funtions of photoshop required for logo design, but is alot smaller (in terms of memory usage) and affordable? im looking for something completely for designing logos.

I think Photoshop is quite fast considering all the operations that it performs. And if there was a program like the one you ask for then it would be REALLY famous.
