Thread: Avoid Frames, but why?

    Default Avoid Frames, but why?

Frame creates usability problems for your website. Websites having frames behave differently from normal web pages. All the web browsers don’t support frames. So there is possibility that your website is not visible to all the users. Frames make bookmarking pages difficult and make it less experienced for users. Navigation is difficult in frame based websites. Frame creates problem for search engines to index your website, because all the pages are not included in main navigation system. Frame based websites are not easily refreshed. To use back and forward button becomes quite difficult. Not all browsers print frame based web pages properly.

Although there are valid reasons to avoid frames, there are some good reasons that will compel you to consider using them. One of the best is the fact that they do provide a way to link into sub-sections of a web page without a lot of extra coding. I am no denying its demerits but sometimes it becomes the best option and very useful to use frames. Suppose I have some links in a panel on the left of my page, and I want to use these to control the content to the right of the page. As such frames become the most eligible options.

You can find the pros of frames listed out here:

Yes I know, I haven't read many opinions that give a reason why it's better other than 'I know it better' or something like that. I tried ASP a few times, but it seemed pretty hard compared to PHP.

Frame creates more difficulty for user and as we know it makes poor user experience on website.Search Engines specially if we talk about google, then we know, google is not placing those websites in top ranking which has not good user experience, navigation structure etc.So its not advisable to use frames on websites.
