How to design a logo?

Designing a logo is really very creative job. Logos have become very important tool for branding a product and hence it is used by most of the business owners to promote their product. While designing a logo, you must try to make it as unique as possible. Uniqueness in the logo will help in attracting the viewers. Moreover, the colors and shape of the logo must be selected keeping in mind your business. Color must not contradict to your business by any mean. You must be careful, if your logo has any spelling in it. The spelling must be written correctly.

I will be using Adobe Photoshop CS2 to design this logo. Many swear by illustrator, but I believe for the purposes of making a tutorial, it'd be best to use photoshop as it will cater to a wider audience. More people have used photoshop than Illustrator. Besides, I've created 95% of all my logos in Photoshop.
